For Those Who Think Young

My good friend April told me about an old Pepsi advertisement that she saw yesterday on the side of the Telly’s Restaurant that was being torn down.  She said I should get my camera and go take some pics of it because it looked like it was from a long time ago.  So, I decided to bring my camera with me to work today so I could get some shots of it.

As soon as I laid eyes on the advertisement, I knew it was old.  I didn’t know how old until I researched the slogan “Now It’s Pepsi For Those Who Think Young”.

Pepsi used that slogan between 1961 and 1964 (Wikipedia).  That means it’s possible it has been on the wall for at least 49 years.

I also didn’t know that building was A&E Party Store before it was Telly’s Restaurant.

I researched A&E Party Store but could not find a single thing on it.  I also researched Telly’s Restaurant to see if I could find out when it first opened.  No luck.

UPDATE:  Thanks to some help from Facebook friends, I was given the following link that states Telly’s Restaurant was established in 1975.  That means the advertisement was covered up ~38 years ago.  That explains why it is still in excellent condition.
